Some would say “About Time” others just seem to be happy for us because finally I made an honest woman out of Morag and married her. We jetted off to Saint Lucia, just the two of us and got married out there and had a reception back home in Scotland.

So tis that time of year again where I want to upgrade my phone. I currently have the excellent Sony Ericsson K800i but since I’m a gadget freak I need to continually upgrade when I know something better is round the corner. So what do I go for this time? Well, the killer feature for me on a phone is a decent digital camera for those opportune moments when you just need to take a quick pic. The K800i was brilliant for this with it’s 3.2 MP and a proper xenon flash. That set the bar for the new phone to beat.

Basically that knocked the Nokia N95 out of contention with its poor crappy LED flash (they are just pants and anyone who says otherwise just can’t take photos!) and also it has a crap battery (some people need to recharge it twice a day!), on paper it sounds ideal but in practicality its basically pants.

Next was the Samsung G800 with it’s 5MP camera and a proper xenon flash. It evens has a 3x Optical Zoom (digital zooms create noise and are pish!). It even looks nice.
 

Of course Sony Ericsson have upgraded the K800i to the K850i which also boasts a 5MP camera and proper xenon flash. It looks a bit chunky but the spec announces this is actually a beast of a phone!
 

Dilemma, dilemma!! Time to read some reviews maybe even a head to head!
 

This comes to the point of my post, I googled “K850i vs G800″ and was actually surprised at the number of hits it generated.
 

First of was this hit by a chap called Matt Sharp.  Which seemed more of an overview of the phones rather than a head to head battle as the title suggested. Disappointed I then tabbed back and clicked on the second hit.
 

Wait a minute!!!! this was posted by the admin of app4mobile.com but it was word for word the exact same!!! Maybe Matt is an admin on another web site. Ok Tab back again and get the next hit.
 

Déjà vu? Same text again word for word. Another web site. Matt sure gets around typing his same bumf over and over! Tab back again and click hit number 4. This looks more promising words like 5 mega-pixel battle and an author called Mark Bonnett. But wait!!! NOOOOOOOO! It’s the same fking text all over again!!!!!!!!!
 

Complete twats. Worst of it is, it hasn’t even been re-typed, it either comes from a central database which all these websites connect to (doubtful), or they are the worst cut’n'pasters this side of Saturn (apparently on Neptune they really are bad!). Check the 2nd last paragraph in all 4 items. You should spot the typo Samsung is also brining the Samsung G800 where brining should really say bringing. So not only is there severe plagiarism going on but the lazy bar stewards can’t even fix the spelling! And then to top of the misery Google goes and indexes them all so they are all on the same search page. This is how the web is becoming crap! My lecturer always told me duplication of data is bad, surely the same principle applies to mobile phone head to head (misleading!) battle web pages. LOL!
 

 Anyway, I found the reviews I was looking for in a, wait for it, PAPER magazine T3. Turns out the Sony is the better of the two, so I’ll be upgrading in a few weeks. Hurray!
